We have traveled to many parts of the country solving building issues. Most issues begin with unbalanced air pressures. Exhaust is added, Make-up air is not. The building envelope begins to run in a negative air pressure. The exhaust fans remove all of the free air from the space, as the space becomes negative, the exhaust fan performance drops, “ You can’t suck air from a bottle”, as the building becomes more negative, exhaust systems are not removing the fumes, smoke, Etc, more exhaust is added. Soon doors slam, cold air is being drawn in from every small crack and crevice, cold drafts are everywhere. No matter how much exhaust is added, the building problems seem to escalate.
